The Course

Single Rainbow
or Double*?

We have something for everyone.

Whether you want to run 10K or Half Marathon**,
you’re in for a treat.

*So intense.

**Race distances are approximate and map apps struggle to get accurate data in canyon country.

The Over the Rainbow Runs take place on the ancestral homeland of Pueblo and Southern Paiute peoples.

Elevation Profile. Double Rainbow does this, then the reverse of this, plus a little extra.

The Over the Rainbow Runs start and finish at Jacob Hamblin Park in the heart of Kanab.

All runners will run a couple blocks through the sleepy hamlet to rolling Tom’s Canyon. Halfway through the canyon, 10K and Half Marathon runners will take a slightly different variation to the bottom of the aptly-named Cliffs Trail. They will then power hike and scramble up to the top, where they will be rewarded with great views and goodies from the aid station. Runners will then traverse the top of the ridge via a mix of ATV roads and single-track on the Connector Trail, with great views of the Grand Staircase to the north. Finally, runners will join the Beehive*** Trail for the dramatic descent back into town. Talented technical downhill runners will be in their element here.

Double Rainbow runners will check in and receive a rainbow sticker and their second aid station goodies at the start/finish, then turn around and complete the course in reverse.

The course is roughly 75% single-track, 20% ATV roads, and 5% city streets, and is mostly dirt with some soft sand, and 2 small rock scrambles. Parts are very technical in nature and are likely to be power-hiked.

The 10K features 1,152 feet of vert; the Half Marathon sports 2,324′.

***The official name for the trail has recently changed, though signs on the course may reflect its old name, which is considered offensive and derogatory.
